About
I would like to welcome you to AAA Infrared Building Diagnostics, LLC.
My name is Gary and I’m the corporate executive officer. I have been in the home building business since March 1972. In the thirty seven years I have been in the housing industry, I was fortunate to have managed or been involved with the construction of over twenty thousand homes. When you have been exposed to the construction or the placement of that many homes you are exposed to all types of conditions, locations and situations in the building process.
I came to the conclusion many years ago that there are two simple facts in the building industry. (1) Homes are built by humans and (2) the main building material is wood. With a good quality control program and the use of qualified craftsmen you can create a very high level of error free construction. However, many firms in the industry do not take adequate steps to ensure that Quality is upheld throughout the whole process, and like most things in nature, wood dies and deteriorates with time. These errors can compile into a formidable energy loss. If not handled correctly, the energy loss can become quite expensive.
The fact I’m trying to evoke here is that mistakes happen in the building trades. Those errors sometimes get covered up, either by accident or intentionally. When the error is covered by other material then it becomes impossible for you to detect it with the naked eye. The sad thing about hidden errors in a house is they can cost you thousands of dollars in lost energy, slow moisture infiltration, and a multitude of other costly problems. These undetected problems can even carry over into health hazards, diminish your standard of living, and devalue your property. When these items finally become evident to the naked eye, the cost of repair can be devastating to your pocketbook.
If you are paying the utility expenses where you live, you have noticed one very hard fact this year. Your utility cost has skyrocketed through the roof. The second cold hard fact is next year those costs are going to be worse. Energy is not going to get cheaper. We all need to find ways to preserve it, make it work for us, and make it last as long as possible.
How do you keep the energy from your heat supply working for you longer? One step is by keeping the energy within your building envelope. Heat energy always moves toward the cold. What this means is the natural movement of your heat is toward the cool air outside during the winter and in the summer the heat of the outside naturally wants to move towards the cool air-conditioned environment inside your home. When you stop the excessive leakage of the energy movement in a properly controlled manner you retain the heat energy longer thus reducing your need for more heat energy and reducing your energy needs. To do this you need to see where the energy is escaping. This energy is visible, but not to human’s naked eye.
Infrared Imaging is the process of photographing the infrared wave length that energy emits that cannot be see with our own eye. Imagine walking into a dark room with a water faucet running wide open. Now turn on the lights. You can see where to go to turn off the water faucet. The infrared camera lets you turn on the light to the escaping heat energy in your home. With the camera you can see where the contractor missed insulation in the wall, or where in the roof cavity the insulation has been missed or even moved accidentally. The infrared camera can see where moisture may be forming inside a wall or ceiling. This would also help locate possible mold growth locations. This is all done through a nondestructive inspection process with an infrared camera and analysis of the images by a well trained and experienced Thermographer.
With that being said, I’ve decided not to sit back any longer and just complain about it. I am genuinely concerned for families struggling to keep food on the table in these difficult and trying times. When you are giving a substantial chunk of it to the power companies, sometimes there isn’t much left over to purchase the extra things for yourself and your family. With this simple and innovative energy audit you can potentially reduce your utility cost by 30% per month. Just imagine what you could accomplish with the leftover savings.
